Silent Key Richard Wilson EI9CC

IRTS would like to extend its condolence to the Family and friends of the Late Richard Wilson EI9CC from Castleknock Dublin and late of Teagasc, NUIM and UCD.

Richard passed away on Sunday November 10th in Beaumont Hospital after a short illness.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Penny, Sons, Daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Richard was a founding member of Fingal Radio Club in the 1970’s.


Cork Radio Club

Cork Radio Club will hold their November meeting next Wednesday November 20th at 2000 in Carrigtwohill Community Centre.

The topic for this meeting will be programming modern handheld VHF and UHF radios. So, if you have a Chinese handheld that you are not making proper use of, bring it along on the night.

South Eastern Amateur Radio Group

The November meeting of the South Eastern Amateur Radio Group will take place on Monday the 25th of November 2019 in the Roanmore Social and Sports Centre, Cleaboy Road, Waterford at 8.00 p.m. sharp. At this meeting, Roger EI8KN will be presenting a prize quiz. So you may wish to brush up on all things amateur radio! As this will be the last club meeting for 2019 all members are please asked to attend. As always, new members are very welcome to attend also.

The South Eastern Amateur Radio Group wish remind everyone to book their hotel rooms for the IRTS AGM 2020 weekend in April 2020 as soon as possible. Rooms have been taken very quickly for the weekend so if you are to be sure to obtain a room in the hotel for the weekend please book it as soon as possible. Shannon Basin Radio Club

Reminder that the Shannon Basin Radio Club will be holding its AGM in Hannons Hotel Roscommon on Wednesday the 11th December at 20:00. DX News

Chris GM3WOJ and Keith GM4YXI are making a return visit to the Cocos Keeling Islands from 12th – 29th November. They will use the callsign VK9CZ which they used on their previous visits in 2013 and 2017. Activity will be on all bands 160 – 6m on SSB/CW and FT8. They will also take part in the CQWW CW Contest on the weekend of 23rd/24th November. QSLs go via N3SL.

Alain F8FUA will reactivate his XT2BR callsign from Burkina Faso in West Africa until 17th November. QSL to his home call.

Grant KZ1W and Rob N7QT will be QRV as H40KT and H40TT from Temotu Province from 14th – 26th November. The actual QTH is Pigeon Island which counts as OC-065 for the IOTA Award. QSL manager is M0URX.

JA1VND will be on the air as KH8/K1TF from Pago Pago in American Samoa from 12th – 18th November. He will be on CW, SSB and digital and QSLs go via the home call.
