On Thursday 9th May the next Amateur Station Licence Exam will be held in the ComReg Offices in Dublin. As places are limited and are allocated on a first come first served basis, those intending to sit the exam should apply soon. Full details, including entry procedure, exam fee and how to pay the fee online are available at www.irts.ie/exam
Please note that it is necessary to download the application form from the web page, forward the completed form and pay the appropriate fee so as to secure a place for the exam. The closing date for receipt of completed applications is Thursday 25th April. Candidates for this exam and those helping them to prepare for it should look at www.irts.ie/study which has links to the Course Guide and other useful study material.

The March meeting of the South Eastern Amateur Radio Group will take place on Monday the 25th of March 2019 in the Roanmore Social and Sports Centre, Cleaboy Road, Waterford at 8.00 p.m. sharp. At this meeting John EI3HQB will be giving a talk on his recent homebrew beam antenna. All group members are asked to please attend. New members or anyone interested in learning more about amateur radio or the group are as always very welcome to attend.

The South Dublin Radio Club AGM will take place at 8pm on Tuesday 7th of May 2019 at Ballyroan community centre on the Marian road in Rathfarnham. All club members are asked to attend.
Reminder: IMD will take place this year on 27th of April when amateur radio stations will operate from various locations around the world with historical connections to Marconi. EI0MAR will be QRV as an award station once again this year from the Hurdy Gurdy Museum of Vintage Radio in Howth. This is a twenty-four hour event and EI0MAR will be QRV from about 0700 Zulu that day. The Marconi Company conducted wireless telegraphy tests at the Martello Tower in 1905.
If you would like to come along that day as a visitor or operator you will be most welcome. The event is organised by the Cornish Radio Amateur Radio Club and awards are made for contacting the registered stations. This year the IRTS Dinner and AGM will be hosted by the Shannon Basin Radio Club. Talks and demos will take place on the Saturday afternoon 13th April, with the annual dinner taking place on Saturday night. The radio and electronics fair will take place on the Sunday 14th April. Rainer DL1AUZ and Dagmar DM7PQ will be active from the South Cook Islands as E51AUZ and E51NPQ respectively from 27th – 31st March. They will operate holiday-style on CW only. QSLs go to the home call.
The contest station D4C, located in the Cape Verde Islands, will be active during the CQWW WPX Contest next weekend (30/31 March). A multi-national team will be at the station and QSL information is on the website d4c.cc/qsl/
Kasimir DL2SBY will be in Jamaica using the callsign 6Y5KB from 28th March – 10th April. He plans to be on 80 – 6m on CW, SSB and FT8. QSL to his home call.
Sigi DL7DF and a group of experienced German operators will sign C5DL from Gambia from 1st – 15th April. QRV all bands CW, SSB and Digital. QSL via DL7DF.
