Tipperary Amateur Radio Group AGM.

The Annual General Meeting of the Tipperary Amatuer Radio Group will be held at The Park Hotel, Clonmel on Tuesday 6th December 2016 at 8pm.

This is the most important meeting of the calendar year and all group members are asked to attend. Short Wave Listeners are in particular very welcome. A number of radio related topics are up for discussion as well as plans for participation in up coming events for 2017.

Kerry Amateur Radio Group

Members and friends attended the annual KARG Christmas dinner at Muckross Killarney on Sat 26 Nov. This social occasion was thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance. Members reflected on the numerous activities during 2016, which concluded another very successful year for KARG.

The next meeting will be the AGM on Sat 28th Jan 2017, in Castleisland. KARG members plan to be active for the 80M Counties contest on new Years Day.

South Dublin Radio Club

This year's South Dublin Radio Club Christmas Party will take place on Tuesday 13th December. The venue will be the same as last year, "The Morgue", Tempelogue Village from 8pm until late.

Members of other clubs and visitors are as usual very welcome to this social event. Limited free food will be available for paid-up members; visitors can choose from the bar menu until 9pm. The club will then break for Xmas and return on January 3rd 2017.


Shannon Basin Radio Club

Shannon Basin Radio Club will hold its AGM on Friday 13th Jan 2017 at 8.30pm in Hannons Hotel, Roscommon Town. All members are requested to attend and of course anyone wishing to become a member is more than welcome. Light refreshments will be served.


DX News

Bodo DF8DX will be in Palestine from 8th – 12th December. He will reactivate his E44QX callsign from the West Bank. He will be accompanied by Hermann DL2NUD who will operate as E44HP. Activity will be mainly on CW.

There has been quite a bit of activity from Bonaire recently. Look for further action from PJ4/DL1COP and PJ4/DC7MO from 3rd to 15th December and from PJ4/NA9Q from 4th to 10th December.

It is reported that Francois F4HLT will be going to the Dumont d’Urville Research Station on Petrels Island in Antarctica for a one year stay. He has been issued with the callsign FT3YL which is valid from 1st December 2016 until 1st February 2018. He will be on the air when possible during his spare time and his QSL Manager is F6KPQ.

To celebrate the birthdate of the Indian physicist and radio pioneer Jagadish Chandra Bose the special event call of AU2JCB is being activated until 12th December. QSLs go to VU2DSI.


Galway VHF Group 2m Gateway

The Galway VHF Group are planning to install an MMDVM access point which will cover 3 digital modes in the Galway City and surrounding areas.

Club members will be acquiring C4FM equipment over the next few months along with MMDVM access points for use in the home QTH.


Phoenix Rally February 19th 2017

The Phoenix Rally will take place on Sunday 19th February 2017 at the usual venue of Coolmine Community School, Dublin 15. Should you require a table, please contact Tony on 087 243 9997.


IRTS VHF Squares Table 2016

Do you want to submit your VHF, UHF or indeed SHF squares worked between 1st January and 31st December? You are welcome to submit your worked squares to Steve EI5DD on wrights1 /at/ eircom.net. These will be entered into the table found on the IRTS website.


Swedish 5 MHz Changes

Goran, SM7DLK and Torleif, SM6YOR, report that from the end of October 2016 the Swedish Post & Telecom (PTS) regulator has been issuing temporary (6 month) experimental licenses for 5351.5 – 5366.5 kHz with 15W EIRP. This replaces the previous four 3 KHz segments of 5310, 5320, 5380 and 5390 kHz that been used during the past years which now have expired.
