The death has occurred of Gerald O'Reilly EI2CF of Monavalley, Tralee, Co Kerry. Gerald passed away on Saturday 19th November, and will be missed by his family and many friends. Gerald worked with the ESB most of his life, but will be best remembered for his involvement in the Rose of Tralee International festival, where he served as President in the 1981 and 1982.

Results of the 80m Evening CW Counties Contest have now been published, the Contest Results page at www.irts.ie/results has all the details. Dave Moore EI4BZ was the top-scoring Irish station, while Andy Malbon G8MIA was the top-scoring overseas station. Congratulations to both winners.
In 2017, our Evening Counties Contests will have SSB Only and mixed mode SSB/CW sections, as it is clear that there is insufficient support for a CW-only event. Full details of this and other changes to the contest calendar and rules will be included in the next issue of the members' journal, Echo Ireland.
This year's South Dublin Radio Club Christmas Party will take place on Tuesday 13th December. The venue will be the same as last year, "The Morgue", Tempelogue Village from 8pm until late.
Members of other clubs and visitors are as usual very welcome to this social event. Limited free food will be available for paid-up members; visitors can choose from the bar menu until 9pm. The club will then break for Xmas and return on January 3rd 2017.
The South Eastern Amateur Radio Group would like to wish all the candidates sitting the Harec exam on 1st December the very best of luck. We hope you all succeed in passing and we look forward to hearing many new call signs on the air over the comings weeks.
The November meeting of the South Eastern Amateur Radio Group will take place in the Roanmore Social and Sports Centre, Cleaboy Road, Waterford on tomorrow night Monday 28th November at 8pm. This will be the last meeting of the club for 2016 as there will be no December meeting. New members or anyone interested in learning more about amateur radio are very welcome to attend.

Upgrade and renewal work was carried out on the EI2HHR repeater 145.675MHz at Helvick Head near Dungarvan County Waterford on Sunday 6th November. A new Motorola repeater was installed and all antennas were refurbished or replaced. With higher power output and changes to the antenna system the coverage should be much improved.

Dave W5CW is QRV as VP5/W5CW from the Turks and Caicos Islands until 13th December. He is on all bands 6m to 160m CW and SSB. QSL to the home call.
Another Caribbean activity is by 4 U.S. operators who will sign FS/home call from the island of St. Martin. They will be there from 1st to 11th December. QSL to the home call.
Tom KC0W has finished his recent trip to the Philippines where he signed 4I7COW and is now on the air from Montenegro as 4O/KC0W. His future plans may include a few days in Albania where he will appear with a ZA callsign. Then during December he will travel to Equatorial Guinea to finalise arrangements for his 3C and 3C0 callsigns which it is hoped will be aired in January.
Alex RD1AV is travelling south to the Russian Vostok Station in Antarctica where he will be working from 10th December until February 2018. His callsign will be RI1ANC and during his spare time he will be active on CW, SSB and Digital. QSL Manager is RN1ON.
