Two Metres Counties Contest

Today Sunday 28th August a final reminder that this contest takes place this afternoon from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm local time. This is a great opportunity to meet up with old friends on 2 metres. Expect to hear some portable stations, especially if the WX is favourable!

Both SSB and FM can be used and a station may be worked on both modes. The 32 counties in EI and GI are multipliers, so the rarer counties will be in great demand. The closing date for the submission of the log to the contest manager is 27th September 2011.


Limerick Radio Club

Members from Limerick Radio Club will be operating a special event station today from the Atlantic Airventure site in Shannon, Co. Clare using the callsign EI0A on all bands using SSB & CW. This is the second year that the club have participated in the event. QSL via EI4GXB.


Tipperary Amateur Radio Group

The next meeting of the Tipperary Amateur Radio Group will take place in Raheen House Hotel, Raheen Road,Clonmel on Thursday next the 1st of September at 8.30 pm ,All are welcome


North Cork Radio Group

The North Cork Radio Group is pleased to announce their second annual rally and electronics fair at the Blarney Golf Resort, Tower, Co Cork. on Sunday September the 11th 2011.

The doors open to the public at 11.30 and the rally will run throughout the afternoon. The usual traders will be on hand with some very tasty bargains, South East Communications, Long Communications and JBT Trading.

Shannon Basin Radio Club

Once again the Shannon Basin Radio Club will be hosting the SSB field day on the weekend of 3rd and 4th September 2011. The grounds of Garbally College in Ballinasloe in Co. Galway have again been made available to any clubs or individual operators who wish to take part in the event. The club will also be hosting its very popular barbeque which is one of the highlights of the weekend. South Dublin Radio Club

South Dublin Radio club have returned to weekly meetings after the usual short break. Meetings are again taking place in the Ballyoran community centre Tuesdays at 8pm. All welcome


NASA Moon Mission in Final Preparations for

September Launch

NASA's Gravity Recovery And Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) mission to study the moon is in final launch preparations for a scheduled Sept. 8 launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

GRAIL's twin spacecraft are tasked for a nine-month mission to explore Earth's nearest neighbor in unprecedented detail. They will determine the structure of the lunar interior from crust to core and advance our understanding of the thermal evolution of the moon.
