Echo India Four Lima re-issued

John Kelly - formerly EI4HS - has recently been issued with the callsign EI4L, which was previously held by his grandfather. EI4L was issued originally to John Scanlon in 1936. He was one of the true pioneers of radio in this country, he experimented with television in the years after World War 2 and was also a very active HF DXer.

John Scanlon became a silent key in 2004. His call sign lives on, however, with his grandson John Kelly. As EI4HS, John has been very active on the bands and is a regular participant in the two metre counties contests, so expect to hear plenty of activity from EI4L over the coming months.
