Participants in the Counties Contest, which took place on Easter Monday last, should note that the closing date for receipt of logs is Wednesday the 5th of May.
Logs must be emailed or postmarked by this date, late entries will not be accepted. Please remember to state clearly the category that you are entering and include a brief summary of the equipment used.
Logs should be emailed to email@example.com. Paper logs should be sent directly to the Contest Manager - Noel Walsh EI2JC at QTHR.
All logs received by email will be acknowledged. Postal entrants requiring acknowledgement should include a stamped addressed envelope.
Slight changes to the conditions of this competition have occurred in that the period of this competition has changed from every Sunday in the month of July to cover the entire month of July without exception. On Monday the 7th of June EI2BY will be doing emergency radio coverage of the Women's Mini Marathon. This year, IRTS president Sean Donelan will be involved in the radio communications for the event. At a recent meeting of South Dublin Radio Club, Paul O'Kane EI5DI made a presentation on his participation in the DXpedition to Rodrigues Island in the Indian Ocean. Paul was able to give a first-hand account of the expedition, including the equipment used and operating procedures. His presentation was illustrated with slides of the island, the antennas and the operators. Paul finished the presentation with tips for would-be DXers.
Next Tuesday, the 4th of May there takes place an important meeting for South Dublin Radio Club members. As previously announced, the committee will be proposing the adoption of a new constitution. The draft constitution was discussed at a recent meeting and as a result, a number of changes were made. The revised draft can be downloaded from the club web site www.qsl.net/ei2sdr/

Just a reminder that the first Tuesday of every month has been designated for 4-metre activity net from Cork and south Tipperary. Currently on test is a 4 metre simplexer on 70.350 MHz.

Daniel EI9FHB is working at Inishtrahull lighthouse off the coast of Donegal since Saturday last and will be on the lighthouse until the end of the week. Subject to work requirements he should be active on HF in the evenings after 8 p.m. mainly on the worked all Ireland frequencies.
Operating using voice only and using the callsign EJ9FHB this rare island now uninhabited will be active for this short period only.
The next committee meeting of the group will take place this coming Wednesday at 8.00 p.m. in the Roanmore Sports and Social Centre, Cleaboy Road, Waterford.
