Fingal Radio Club

Fingal Radio Club will run a Mini Bus to the Telford Radio Rally in August. The group will leave early on Saturday the 30th of August and stay overnight in Brosley and head to the Rally on Sunday the 31st. A table booked so any bought by the group bought will be stored safely during the rally. The cost will depend on the numbers booked, so the more people that are willing to travel the cheaper the cost. Cost will include Transfers to and from Dublin to Telford return and evening meal on the Saturday followed by Bed and Breakfast.

The rally this year will be held In the RAF Air Museum in Cosford and if you haven't been there before it is really a spectacle to behold! The stalls are under wings of large World War II bombers and under the engines of others etc. So if you are interested contact Liam EI3HK at 087-2521542 or 01-8316266 ASAP. As soon as Liam has an idea of numbers he can then work out a very reasonable price that should suit all pockets.


Mayo REN

A large crowd attended the June meeting of the Mayo Radio Experimenters Network. The meting reviewed its recent appearance on the RTE Television programme Nationwide. The feedback to date to the club has been fantastic. The inaugural Mayo International DX Dinner was also reviewed. This was also considered to be a great success. The club discussed details of their summer programme and plans for their Rally in November.

The club meets on the First Wednesday of each month in Stenson's Lounge Ballyvary, all year round. Visitors and new members are welcome.


Limerick Radio Club

The Limerick Radio Club would like to thank all their members for their support during the past year. The club has now stopped meeting for the summer months. Meetings will resume in September.


Mayo REN

Mayo REN Rally Director, Padraic Baynes Snr. EI9JA, has announced that the 2003 Mayo Rally will be held on Sunday November the 16th in The Belmont Hotel, Knock, with doors opening at 11.00 a.m. Listeners will remember the success of the first Mayo rally last year, and the club are already hard at work to ensure a repeat success.


Irishwan

Irishwan, the licence exempt wireless networking group, is having it's second National conference in Limerick on Saturday the 28th of June at The Two Mile Inn on the Ennis Road. As well as talks on wireless computer networking there will also be commercial stands and a bring and buy stall.

Talks planned include building wireless computer links, sharing broadband internet connections and wireless security. There will also be representatives from the Dublin, Wexford, Waterford, Limerick, Cork and Galway Irishwan clubs.

This is an ideal event for those interested in technology and who are looking for a way to get cheaper internet access by using wireless.

Doors open at noon and talks will take place all afternoon until 6 p.m. Entry is 5 Euro and more details are on the Irishwan web site www.irishwan.org


Iceland

Paddy EI7GK will be QRV from Reykjavik with the call sign TF3/EI7GK/P from the 23rd of June to the 8th of July 2003. Listen out for him on the worked all Ireland frequency 14.268 MHz and the IOTA frequency 14.260 MHz as well as 21.317 and 7.068 MHz.

Paddy will be delighted to work any EI, GI or MI stations and offer in a pile up calls for "the EI station only" Paddy has previously operated from Mexico, Spain, France, the UK, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, and Monaco.


DX News

VP8ROT is active from Rothera base on Adelaide Island, Antarctica. The island counts as AN-001 for the RSGB Islands on the Air awards. VP8ROT has been active on 20 metres between 0200 and 0500 UTC.

JM6DZB/JD1 is operational from the Ogasawara Islands until the end of 2003 on 80, 40 and 15 metres SSB.
