The South Dublin Radio Club Christmas Party takes place on Tuesday next,the 11th of December. The venue this year is the Templeogue Inn, which is known locally as "The Morgue". The party commences at 8.30 pm, and as usual all are welcome. There will be no club meeting that night.

Tipperary Amateur Radio group wish to draw your attention to the following changes in the groups activities. Since first Sunday in December the IRTS Radio News bulletin on 2 metres and 70 cm is broadcast at 8:30 p.m. local time. Transmission frequencies are 433.450 MHz and 145.450 MHz.
Also the monthly meetings of TARG will be held on the first Thursday of every month.
The next committee meeting of the IRTS will take place on Saturday the 15th of December at 11 a.m. in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, Athlone.
Following the Radiocommunications Agency's announcement that holders of full and intermediate Class B licenses can operate on the HF bands under the Foundation licence by taking the Morse Assessment, the RSGB is now arranging for Morse sessions to be held nation-wide.
A new 2-metre Internet gateway has been set up in Surrey. It is at the station of G4CDY, on 145.2875 MHz and uses 'I-Link' software.
Recent appeals on the radio news from WAI activists to get rare counties on air proved successful last Sunday when some of the counties needed for the WAI counties award came up on the WAI net.
John EI6DN from Meath, Nicky EI3JB from Waterford, David EI6IQ from Monaghan,John EI6DY in Offaly & Joseph EI4JA in Donegal all called in and filled some gaps in the counties list. Also Alex GI0TJJ activated squares in Armagh and Monaghan, and Paddy EI7GK/M activated Wexford. Pat EI9HX was in Roscommon and will be on the Irish hour on 21.317 MHz from Mexico at 17.00 UTC signing XE1/EI9HX. All the WAI members wish him bon voyage.
Some stations have now got all 32 counties needed for the award (must be in 2001). Many are now short just 1 county. Laois, Mayo, Sligo, Carlow and Cavan are all needed, so if you are in one of those counties please come up on 7.068 MHz on Sundays after the Nuacht at 11.30.
100th Anniversary of First Trans-Atlantic Transmission The Marconi Radio Club, W1AA and The Falmouth Amateur Radio Association Amateur Radio operators are planning to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Trans-Atlantic radio transmission by Guglielmo Marconi on December the 12th 2001 which was a ?S S S? transmitted on CW across the Atlantic from Poldhu, Cornwall England to St John's, Newfoundland.
The Marconi Radio Club will be using the call sign W1AA/CC and will be operating from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, U.S.A. the location of Marconi's 1903 Trans-Atlantic radio station. Marconi's 1903 call sign was "CC".
