The Annual General Meeting of the North Dublin radio Club was held recently and the following committee was elected;

The club’s monthly draw will continue to be managed by Tom EI6K and Henry Galligan SWL will manage the club library.
In their annual reports, the chairman and secretary concentrated on the past year’s activities which included field days, demonstration stations, the annual trip and dinner and the NDR Exhibition which has been in three public libraries on the Northside of the City so far.
The Willie Barron Award was presented jointly to Peadar EI6FWB and Joe EI4FV for this club project to promote amateur radio. Appreciation was expressed to Dan EI3AE for accepting the role of tutor for the NDR theory classes and subsequent increase in membership of the club.
A new project has been undertaken by NDR to assemble audio tone SWR meters for use by the visually impaired. The boards were designed and constructed by Tony EI5EM and will have five audio settings to indicate SWR readings, with optional attachment of the usual SWR meter.
The new committee will finalise agreed participation for the first time in lighthouses on the air in August and activating a club JOTA station using Year 2000 Call-sign EI2K/J.
Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has signed Sergei Rebrov in an eleven million pound deal. Not only is the Dynamo Kiev striker very good at football, he has also worked over 300 DXCC countries.
Sergei, whose call is UT5UDX, is a keen contester and won the single-operator section of the IOTA Contest in 1997. In a recent contact on 21MHz, he told the RSGB that he was looking forward to coming to the UK and being able to operate from there.
Practical Wireless QRP Contest next Sunday The Practical Wireless 144 MHz QRP Contest will be held on Sunday next June the 18th and runs from 0900 to 1600utc.
The maximum power allowed is three watts and the scoring is one point per contact, with locator squares as multipliers.
The leading station in EI or GI receives the PW EI/GI Trophy Clock donated by Rob Mannion G3XFD, editor of Practical Wireless.
Peter Lowrie GI7JYK/P won the clock last year.
Participants in last weekend’s CW Field Day enjoyed mixed weather with heavy rain and brilliant sunshine being experienced. Band conditions were deemed to be poor and this is reflected in the scores achieved by the Echo India entrants.
Portable stations heard over the weekend were EI7M/P and EI6BT/P from East Cork, EI5IY/P from West Cork and EI7GY/P from Bencroy Mountain in County Leitrim. Mayo was represented by EI7MRE/P and EI5IX/P while Gerry EI4GD was active from County Sligo.
The Worked All Ireland Island Activity weekend will be held over next weekend, June the 17th and 18th.
The Mayo Radio Experimenters Network will have three crews activating islands in Clew Bay and the East Cork Group will be activating Capel and Ballycotton Islands in East Cork. Keep a listen on 7.068MHz.
The Blind and Disabled Group, EI5HAM have closed club meetings at St. Joseph’s, Drumcondra until September. The club net on S23 will also close. Other activities will continue as usual including issuing IRTS News on disk and keeping in touch with members outside Dublin.
