It looks likely that most counties will be activated for St. Patrick’s weekend. Please make an effort to get on the higher bands as well as the WAI frequencies of 3.680 and 7.068 MHz.
South Dublin Radio Club are returning to Co. Leitrim again this year for the EI Activity Weekend. They will be active from 1200 to 1800 on Sunday 19 March, on 2 metres and HF.
Millennium special event station EI2MIL will be operated by members of Limerick Radio Club from the Limerick Inn Hotel over the activity weekend. QSL cards are being sponsored by the Hotel.
The Annual General Meeting of the Monaghan Radio Club was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Monaghan Town on Sunday February the 13th.

The next meeting of the club will be held on Sunday March the 27th after a social evening when they go 10-pin bowling at Castleblaney.
The main business of this meeting will be finalising of plans for the IRTS AGM over the weekend of April 8th and 9th.

The IRTS Committee has to date received ten entries for the Y2K IR£1000 Club Prize. The criteria for selection of the winners was set out at a meeting of the IRTS
Committee held in Athlone on June 12 1999 and is as follows: 1. IRTS & Club Membership 2. Public Activity & Public Relations 3. Club Activity including support of IRTS operating events 4. Contributions to IRTS News & Newsletter To date the Society has received applications from ten groups as follows: Armagh & District Amateur Radio Club, Cork Radio Club, Dublin QRP Amateur Radio Club, Fingal Radio Club, Lough Erne Amateur Radio Club, Mayo Radio Experimenters Network, North Dublin Radio Club, South Dublin Radio Club, Tipperary Amateur Radio Group, Westnet DX Group.
Towards the end of the year, participating clubs/groups will receive a questionnaire to complete and return and the winner will be announced at the 2001 AGM.
On Monday March 20th at 8.15p.m., Fingal Radio Club will present a slide show on busses and trains of past Ireland. This talk and slide show will be given by Mr Desmond McGlinn the well known modeller and public transport expert of times past.
Mr McGlinn gave a similar talk on the same subject some years ago at Fingal's club rooms and it was very well supported and attended. He has since acquired many more slides and information.
The cover charge will be £2 and tea and biscuits will be served.
Mayo Repeater on the Air After a long wait the Mayo Two Metre Voice Repeater finally went on the air on Sunday last February the 27th.
The historic first QSO took place between IRTS Secretary John Corless EI7IQ and Padraic Baynes EI6FWB, the Mayo club's technical operations manager.
The repeater operates under the callsign EI2MRR and operates on R0, transmitting 25 watts on 145.600MHz, with the input on 145.000MHz.
A 5/8 wave collinear antenna is used for reception and transmission is through a folded dipole. Technical adjustments to the repeater are ongoing and reception reports stating exact date and time would be appreciated. These can be sent via e-mail to John EI7IQ firstname.lastname@example.org or QTHR. More details on the repeater will be available in the next few weeks.
The A.G.M of the Limerick Radio Club will be held on Thursday next March 9th 2000 in the Institute of Technology, Moylish at 1930 sharp.
All members are urged to attend.
