IRTS RADIO NEWS BULLETIN Sunday March 1st 1998
We start todays bulletin with the sad news of the death, after a long illness, of Mike Mulhall EI3ES of The Pike, County Laois.
Mike was very well known on the bands and gave County Laois to many Worked EI Counties award chasers. Mikes wife died one week earlier. We extend our sincere sympathy to both their families.
Cork Radio Club are hosting this years IRTS Annual General Meeting over the weekend of April the 18th and 19th. The annual Dinner Dance will be held on the Saturday night in Jurys Hotel on the Western Road in Cork City and tickets cost 19.00 and are available from Dick Bermingham EI6HH and Tony Stack EI9ID.
A special rate has been agreed with the hotel for overnight accommodation so be sure to mention the IRTS AGM when you book in. Those who do not wish to stay in Jurys can avail of a good range of Bed & Breakfast establishments adjacent to the hotel.
Information on tickets and accommodation availability can be got from Dick EI6HH on 021-545154.
On the Sunday, the rally and the AGM itself will also be held in Jurys. Anyone wishing to book a table at the rally should contact Con EI7DJB at 021-270136 as soon as possible. Morse testing will also be held on the Sunday and intending candidates should note that testing will cease at 1400.
Club Annual General Meetings
The Annual General meeting of the South East Amateur Radio Group will take place in Egans Lounge Bar on Wednesday March the 11th at 8.30pm. All members are expected to attend this meeting. Intending members are also very welcome.
The AGM of the Dundalk Amateur Radio Society will be held on Tuesday March the 10th at Marconi House, 113 Castletown Road, Dundalk.

Blind & Disabled Group
The Blind and Disabled Group hold a net on S23, (that is 145.575MHz), every Monday night from approximately 8.15 to 9.15pm from the club station on Whitworth Road in Drumcondra.
Also every Monday night on the same channel from 9.30pm, members of North Dublin Radio Club, using their own callsigns, are running a net and call-in. Report from all stations will be appreciated.
The first anniversary Mass for the late Pat Rowan EI3HU will be held this evening at 6.30pm in Coolock Church, Coolock Village.
Worked all Ireland activity
Last weekend, well known HF mobile operator Paddy EI7GK travelled to Clifden, County Galway and activated all squares en route. His journey was from Wicklow via Kildare, Portarlington, Tullamore, Shannonbridge joining the N6 at Ballinasloe and on to Galway. The next day he activated squares in Connemara doing a total of 53 over the two days.
Listeners are reminded that Tom Rea EI2GP is now the awards manager for the WAI Awards scheme and all applications should be sent to him at Bridge Street, Headford, County Galway. Tom would particularly to hear of any new squares discovered.
Claims for each award should be accompanied by the fee of 5.00 and endorsements cost 3.00 each.
The following rally dates have been notified to the news service for the coming year.
On March the 22nd the Limerick Rally will be held at the Limerick Inn on the Ennis Road.
As mentioned already, the IRTS AGM will be held over the weekend of April the 18th and 19th in Jurys Hotel in Cork while the Enniskillen will be held on Sunday April the 19th.
Fingal Radio Club will hold their usual rally in Jurys Hotel in Ballsbridge on Sunday May the 10th and their autumn event will be held at the same venue on October the 4th.
On September the 6th, the Coleraine rally moves to a new venue at the Bohill Hotel and Country Club in Coleraine an the Donegal rally will be held in Jacksons in Ballybofey on Sunday November the 1st. The Donegal Dinner will be held on Saturday October the 31st at the same venue.
