IRTS Radio News Bulletin Sunday 5th May 2019


Contest Today

South Dublin Radio Club

The South Dublin Radio Club AGM will take place at 8pm on Tuesday 7th of May 2019 at Ballyroan community centre on the Marian road in Rathfarnham. All members are asked to attend.


Limerick Radio Club

The next meeting of the Limerick Radio Club club, which is the final meeting before the summer break, will take place as usual in the Limerick College of Technology on Thursday 9th May at 7:30 PM. Along with outlining plans for Club summer activities, Michael EI3KO will give a talk on restoring a circa 1946 Pye broadcast receiver.


South Eastern Amateur Radio Group

The South Eastern Amateur Radio Group EI2WRC are pleased to announce that the club will be hosting the 88th Annual Irish Radio Transmitters Society AGM over the weekend of the 18th & 19th April 2020, in The Woodford Dolmen Hotel, Kilkenny Road, Carlow. This will be their 2nd time to host the event and they look forward to welcoming everyone from Ireland and beyond to Carlow. Room prices for the weekend are as follows.

Friday & Saturday – 2 nights bed & breakfast, with one evening meal is €288 for a double room.

Friday & Saturday - 2 nights bed & breakfast, with one evening meal is €254 for a single room.

Saturday Night Only – bed & breakfast is €149 for a double room Saturday Night Only – bed & breakfast is €139 for a single room.

Lough Erne Radio Rally

The 38th Lough Erne Radio Rally, which is a big traditional gathering of radio amateurs and experimenters from EI, GI and MI will be taking place on Sunday 12th May 2019 at the SHARE Centre, Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh BT92 0EQ (SatNav). Doors open 11.30. For more information contact can be made with David GI4VHO or by visiting www.learc.eu


DX News

Mike AC0PR will operate as OA3/AC0PR in Peru from 5th – 11th May. He will be on CW on 40 – 15m during his spare time. QSL to his home call.

Members of the Cambridgeshire Repeater Group are visiting the Isle of Man until 10th May using the callsign GT3PYE/P. They are active on HF and VHF and logs will be uploaded to Logbook of The World.

JA0JHQ and JA7XBG will be QRV from the Maldive Islands from 7th – 10th May using the callsigns 8Q7NH and 8Q7XB. They will be on 160 – 6m on CW and FT8. QSLs go via the home calls.

This year’s Eurovision Song Contest is being held in Tel Aviv, Israel and to mark the occasion 5 special event callsigns will be on the air until 18th May. Look for 4Z64EURO, 4X64S, 4X64O, 4X64N and 4X64G.

To celebrate World Telecommunication and Information Society Day on 17th May a special station, 8J1ITU, will be on the air throughout May from the Japanese island of Honshu. QSL via the Bureau.
