IRTS Radio News Bulletin Sunday 3rd March 2019

Silent Key

IRTS extends its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Michael F. Hayes EI2EO, Curry, Cummer, Tuam, Co, Galway, who passed on the 18th of February.

Mike was a radio officer on-board ship in his early life before settling near Tuam. Mike told many tales of his life at sea, including his experiences during the sinking of the “Irish Spruce” off Jamaica.

He was a keen QRP CW operator, worked many countries around the world and was a member of the Mayo Radio Experimenters club. Mike joined the club out on many activations and field days. As part of the clubs team of newsreaders he read the IRTS news on many occasion from his own QTH.
