IRTS Awards Committee

The IRTS Awards Committee are seeking Nominations for “Awards for Services to the Society or to Amateur Radio” and “Awards to IRTS members for Other Achievements”. Details of these Awards are available at www.irts.ie under the Awards section.

Nominations should reach the Awards Manager Jim Holohan EI4HH, email “holohaj2 /at/ hotmail /dot/ com”, as soon as possible. Last Year Prize Winners

Larry EI9CN has made a request that any members who won prizes last year and who have not already returned them, please could they do so to a local committee member in time for them to be brought to the next committee meeting on the 2nd March. Larry hopes to pick them up at the March committee meeting, as he requires some time to have them engraved / repaired if necessary. If unable to return them via the above routes, members may also send them directly to his QTHR.


Assessment for CW

CW assessment will be carried out in Limerick on March 10th and also at the IRTS AGM in Athlone on April 14th. Booking for these tests is essential and intending candidates should contact Dave EI4BZ on 087-6290573 or by email “davebeag /at/ gmail /dot/ com”. Full details of the Morse test are available on the IRTS web site under licensing at www.irts.ie


South Eastern Amateur Radio Group

A reminder that the 2019 AGM of the South Eastern Amateur Radio Group will take place on Monday the 25th February 2019 in the Roanmore Social and Sports Centre, Cleaboy Road, Waterford at 8.00 p.m. sharp.

As this is the AGM of the group all members are asked to please attend.

New members or anyone interested in learning more about the group or amateur radio are as always very welcome to attend also.

Limerick Radio Club

Club members are preparing for the LRC Rally on the 10th March in the Radisson Hotel, Ennis Road, Limerick . A list of for sale items can be sent to Michael for inclusion on the LRC Web Site.

Please note that the weekly IRTS News continues to be read on the LRC 70cms repeater at 8:00 PM on Monday evenings.


DX News

Arnaud JG1XMV will operate as FK/JG1XMV from New Caledonia from 23rd February – 10th March. He plans to be on 40 – 15m SSB. QSLs go via his home call.

Zorro JH1AJT and a few friends will be back in Bhutan signing A5A from 27th February – 5th March. Other calls to look for are A52IC and A52ZB. Activity will be on 160 – 10m CW, SSB and FT8.

WB2REM, W2WCM and HC5DX will be on Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos Archipelago from 27th February – 6th March. They will use the callsign HD8M on all bands 160 – 6m CW, SSB and Digital.

Colin G4CWH is planning to return to the Cayman Islands and to reactivate his ZF2CA callsign during the first half of March. QSL as usual to his home call.
