Contest Results
The results of the New Year's Day 80 Metres Counties Contest have been published, see the Contest Results page at www.irts.ie/results for full details. Logs from 50 stations were submitted, showing activity in 31 counties; Cavan was the only county without a presence on this occasion.
KARG Annual General Meeting
KARG will hold their AGM at 11am on Saturday 26th January 2019 at O'Riada's Bar, Ballymacelligott, Tralee. All members are requested to attend, and visitors are also very welcome.
South Eastern Amateur Radio Group
The January meeting of the South Eastern Amateur Radio Group will take place on Monday the 28th of January 2019 in the Roanmore Social and Sports Centre, Cleaboy Road, Waterford at 8.00 p.m. sharp. This is the 1st meeting of the new year and all members are asked to come along. New members or anyone interested in learning more about amateur radio or the group are as always very welcome to attend.

Shannon Basin Radio Club
The Shannon Basin Radio Club will be holding its AGM on the 30th January at 20:00 in The Roscommon Sub Aqua Club Rooms in Roscommon Town.

Tipperary Amateur Radio Group
On Tuesday 15th January, members of the Tipperary Amateur Radio Group met at The Park Hotel in Clonmel for their Annual General Meeting. This was a well attended meeting with group members travelling from Counties Kilkenny, Waterford, and Cork joining their Tipperary colleagues. Hugh EI2HI chaired this very productive meeting with John EI7IG reading the minutes from last years AGM.
The group treasurer Thomas EI2IT reported a healthy financial situation. A review of the year and the group activities was then discussed at length.
The new incoming committee was then elected and it was agreed that the venue for all group meetings in 2019 will continue to be held at The Park Hotel, Clonmel, Co Tipperary. Outgoing chairman Hugh EI2HI was thanked for his many years of service before he handed over the chair to Andy EI5JF. Paul Norris EI3ENB will continue as the QSL manager for the group. Thanks also to J.J. and John from Kilkenny for making the trip.

Kerry Amateur Radio Group
KARG are pleased to announce that they will be QRV during calendar year 2019, using the special event call EI-100-YXQ. This call will commemorate the centenary of the first voice transmission across the Atlantic, in an East-West direction, from Ballybunion County Kerry to Louisbourg, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The original call used from the former Marconi radio station in Ballybunion was YXQ.
On the anniversary date of 19th March 2019, KARG will be QRV from the site of the former Marconi radio station in Ballybunion, where an open day is planned to include a number of lectures and demonstrations.
KARG invites expressions of interest from any EI ops to air the call throughout 2019. Please contact Declan EI9FVB for further information.
CW Tests
A reminder that testing of CW will be carried out at the following rallies over the coming months starting with Coolmine on February 17th, Limerick on March 10th and at the IRTS AGM in Athlone on April 14th. Booking for these tests is essential and intending candidates should contact Dave EI4BZ on 087-6290573 or by email “davebeag /at/ gmail /dot/ com”. DX News
Harald DF2WO is back in Kigali, Rwanda using his 9X2AW callsign until 14th February. He will be on all bands CW, SSB and Digital. QSL via M0OXO OQRS.
Mathias DL4MM will be in Aruba signing P4/DL4MM from 22nd – 30th January. In addition he will operate P40AA during the CQ 160m CW Contest on 25th /27th January. QSLs go via Club Log OQRS.
Gerhard OE3GEA is on the Galapagos Islands until 25th January. He is using the callsign HC8GET and QRV on 20 – 10m. QSL to his home call.
Mike OE3MBG is QRV in the Seychelles as S79AA until 2nd February. QSLs are OK via Club Log OQRS and logs will be uploaded to Logbook of The World.
Island chasers may be interested in working HI1LT between 20th and 28th January. The station will be manned by members of the Loma del Toro DX Club and will be located on Beata Island off the coast of the Dominican Republic. The IOTA reference is NA-122 and the QSL manager is W2CCW.
