Shannon Basin Radio Club

A day for your diaries each week. The Shannon Basin Radio 2m net will be taking place this week on at 8pm on Thursday on 145.350MHz. Everyone is welcome to participate. It has become a very successful net with good numbers of call in’s.

DV Radio Net

A reminder that on Monday evenings in the Galway area at 8:30 pm a digital voice net is being operated. Once callins have been taken the net continues down the list and comments may be addressed to anyone within the Group. Whilst this had been originally planned as a local net we appreciate the interest from other areas so feel free to join in. There are many ways of gaining access to this net. Call-ins are all bridged via DMR TG 2724, CQ-IRELAND Wires-X (Fusion) Node 41411, YSF Node 04251, Allstar Node 29884, and Echolink 883269. Thus, there is something for everyone. Please remember to leave a gap between overs to allow the network components to reset.

Additional QRZ Information

Work is continuing on the installation and testing of the IECRO Ireland radio club automated stations. Some information has now been added to QRZ.com regarding the services some of these stations will provide when fully operational.

EI2SNG will provide coverage for much of the waterways, thus it will be extremely useful for maritime mobile operations. This analogue gateway will be connected worldwide via both AllStar and Echolink. An alternative set of digital voice services will be provided by EI7SND.

Some coverage predictions for the combined linked network of parrot stations has been made available online via the EI4SNR profile.

For additional information please search on QRZ.com for EI2SNG, EI4SNR and EI7SND.

The Continuing Fun of FUNcube

It is nearly difficult to believe it, although already the past five years seem to have flown by so quickly. On November 21 five years ago, FUNcube-1 was launched into space.

During these few years FUNcube has transmitted for nearly one hundred and fifty eight million seconds. On average, it has had 105 daily listeners.

Since the launch of FUNcube-1, additional FUNcube systems have been deployed in space. These were UKube-1, QB50p1 and Nayif-1. Two further upcoming systems ESEO and JY1SAT will thus bring the total FUNcube payloads launched for STEM education and amateur radio to six.
