Contest Results

Results of the recent 70cms and 2 metres Counties Contests have now been published, see the Contest Results page for full details.

More than 30 EI and GI stations in 19 counties were active in the 70cms contest, while the 2 metres event attracted more than 70 EI and GI stations in 26 counties. A number of stations operated portable, some of them managing to work up to 18 counties from their hilltop location.

Jamboree on the Air (JOTA)

There will be a JOTA event in the Larch Hill International Scout Centre Dublin over the weekend of 20th and 21st of October. Any club or individual willing to assist in setting up or operating a station from the event please contact Brian EI8IU on 086 1057325.

The shannon basin radio club is holding a net on 145.350 every thursday between 20.00 and 20.30. Both members and non-members are welcome to join in with the aim of promoting the use of 2 meters.

Phoenix Rally 2019

IECRO Radio Club

The committee for the IECRO Radio Club would like to invite any amateur radio operators living within the Midlands region to participate in the testing phases of their new analogue and DMR gateways. Volunteers over the coming weeks are being sought from as many towns and villages around the midlands to see how far each system is reaching coverage wise. For more information and to take part in this final testing stage, please make contact with the club secretary before the 10th October using email “info /dot/ iecro /at/”

IOTA Contest Results

A reminder that provisional results for the 2018 RSGB IOTA Contest have been announced. There were 2,200 entries for this contest, which took place at the end of July. East Cork Amateur Radio Group was the highest scoring station, with more than 3,700 QSOs. 23 EI and GI stations submitted logs, and their results can be seen at which also includes a link to the complete results for all stations.

DX News

Stan LZ1GC will be signing 5W0GC until 14th October from Apia in Samoa. Stan is well-known from previous Pacific trips and will be on all HF bands on CW, SSB and RTTY. The main focus of this DXpedition is 160 and 80m.

Following on from his visit to Samoa, Stan LZ1GC will move to Vanuatu where he will team up with Lubo OM5ZW and Karel OK2WM and they will activate the callsign YJ0GC until 4th November. Once again they will focus on 160 and 80m. QSLs go via Club Log OQRS.

A 4-person team will be QRV from Christmas Island as VK9XT from 29th September – 6th October. They will be on all bands SSB, CW and RTTY. QSL via N4GNR and logs will also be uploaded to Logbook of The World.

Ulrich DL2AH will be active from American Samoa as WH8/DL2AH from 2nd – 29th October. He will be on 80 – 10m on SSB, RTTY and FT8. He will take part in the CQWW DX SSB contest at the end of October but otherwise this will be a holiday-style operation. QSL to his home call.
