Contest Results

The results of the 80 metres evening counties contest held on 7th November have been published, see the Contest Results page at www.irts.ie/results 21 logs were submitted, these show that more than 40 EI and GI stations were active on the night during this short contest.


Echo Ireland

Urgent Reminder. The position of Editor of Echo Ireland remains unfilled. To ensure continued publication of the Society's journal a volunteer is urgently required. Please contact Gerry EI8CC or Séamus EI8BP.


Wild Atlantic Way

As we approach the end of the Wild Atlantic Way initiative to promote Amateur Radio, the number of requests to the WAW QSL manager has increased significantly - especially for Leitrim EI22WAW, Sligo EI33WAW, Mayo EI44WAW and Galway EI55WAW. Help from licenced individuals and clubs, operating in EI, to increase the number of QSOs will be very much appreciated - so please contact the co-ordinators for those call signs. For more information checkout the IRTS web site at www.irts.ie and from the activities menu on the top of the page, choose “Wild Atlantic Way”, where you will find the list of co-ordinators under Wild Atlantic Way - Operators Wanted.


Shannon Basin Radio Club

The Shannon Basin Radio Club will be holding its AGM on Wednesday 6th December at 21:00 in The Shamrock Lodge Hotel Athlone. All members are requested to attend and anyone wishing to join is more than welcome. Refreshments will be provided. For more details see www.shannonbasinradioclub.com


Tipperary Amateur Radio Group

The Annual General Meeting of the Tipperary Amateur Radio Group will be held at The Park Hotel, Clonmel on Thursday 14th December at 8pm.

This is the most important meeting of the calendar year and all group members are requested to attend. Short Wave Listeners are in particular very welcome. A number of radio related topics are up for discussion as well as plans for 2018.

Wexford Wireless Club EI2WWC

Wexford Wireless Club hold weekly meetings every Wednesday evening from 20:00 to 22:00 in Gorey Scout Group Hall just off Esmonde Street in Gorey, Co. Wexford, everyone is as always very welcome

Cork Radio Club

Cork Radio Club will hold the first of their planned mentoring sessions for people studying for the radio amateur examination on Saturday December 2nd in Carrigtwohill Community Centre with an 11am start. One to one tutoring will be provided and it would be helpful if intending attendees would book their place in advance. Lunch will be available on site.

The club are planning a pre-Christmas dinner in early December and expressions of interest are being sought before a venue can be decided. This will be an opportunity for long suffering XYLs to have their annual reunion.

The next club meeting will be held on Wednesday December 13th at the usual venue in Carrigtwohill. Jim EI8GS will show some videos from his extensive collection covering both recent and historical events.

DX News

Tom KC0W, who in recent weeks has been QRV from Hong Kong, Vietnam and Cambodia, will be active as V85/KC0W in Brunei until 10th December. As usual he will be on CW and FT8. QSLs go to his home call.

A group of Argentinian operators will sign HC8LUT from San Cristobal in the Galapagos Islands from 29th November - 8th December. QSL manager is IK2DUW.

Ken K4ZW will be active as XW4ZW from 3rd - 8th December from Vientiane in Laos. His focus will be on the low bands. QSLs go via K1SE.

Olof G0CKV is back on Rodrigues Island and using his 3B9HA callsign on CW. He will be there until 12th December and QSL info is via M0OXO OQRS.
