IRTS New Membership Offer
To encourage EI licence holders that are currently not members to join the society, IRTS is offering the first year of membership free of charge. This offer is open to all holders of EI licences issued after 1st January 2016, and the initiative will run until 31st March 2017. The licence must be in a personal capacity i.e. not club or special call.
Membership will give new licence holders experience of the benefits of the Society, including use of the QSL Buro.
To apply for membership it is only necessary to download and complete a membership application form available on the IRTS website, entering the note "New Licence" under your signature.
For existing members of the IRTS who obtain their full licence between the above dates the Society will give one year free membership on expiry of their current subscription. Full details available on www.irts.ie/join
South Eastern Amateur Radio Group
SEARG will be running a “Learn CW” course on Monday 12th September from 7pm to 10pm in the South East Maker Space workshops (old Munster Express print works), Thomas Hill, Waterford with two further classroom sessions on 19th & 26th September at the same location.
The course will be a combination of techniques for learning CW with follow up practice CW sessions live on air. In addition, we'll be teaching how to solder components to PCB (for those with no experience) followed by the building of a QRP CW transceiver (A Pixie Kit Unit which will be supplied)
The course is intended to accommodate all abilities. The course is free to SEARG & SEMS members and €5 to non-members. SEARG would like to thank South East Maker Space for allowing us to use their workshop for this course.
SEARG will activate Hook Head Lighthouse ILLW Ref: IE0003 on Saturday and Sunday 20th & 21st August as part of the 19th International Lighthouse & Lightship weekend. Hook Head lighthouse is located on the South East coast of Ireland in County Wexford. The present structure is about 800 years old and is the oldest intact operational Lighthouse in the world. The August meeting of SEARG will take place in the Roanmore Social and Sports Centre, Cleaboy Road, Waterford on Monday 29th August at 8pm New members or anyone interested in learning more about amateur radio are very welcome to attend.

Kerry Amateur Radio Group
Kerry Amateur Radio Group look forward to working many stations during the International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend 20th/21st August.
The station will be set up at the Cromwell Point Lighthouse on Valentia Island, County Kerry. The clubs Expeditionary Radio Team will use the new Club HF rig and the new club DMR rig. www.kerryamateurradiogroup.com
South Dublin Radio Club
SDR is returning to weekly meetings after a short summer break, from Tuesday 16th August. The usual fun and chat starts from 8:30pm until 10.30pm at the Community Centre on the Marian road in Dublin. www.southdublinradioclub.ie
North Cork Radio Group
NCRG will be holding this-years annual rally Sunday 28th August 2016 at The Commons Express Inn, Commons Road, Blackpool, Cork. Doors open at 11am and tickets are €5 per person, children under 16 years are free. Everyone is welcome.

Dayton Hamvention has new Venue
Dayton Hamvention has found a new home now that the Hara Arena is closing. The new venue is Greene County Fair and Exposition Center. Xenia, Ohio, which is almost a suburb of Dayton.
DiGicon will be held on 24th September, 10.30am to 5pm Admittance is £3
The Venue is Portadown Golf Club, 192 Gilford Road, Portadown BT63 5LF.
The days agenda will consist of talks on digital voice and other digital modes. Attractions include Catering, Lectures/Seminars, RSGB Book Stall
