Youngsters On The Air (YOTA) 2015

YOTA Team Ireland, consisting of Ger McNamara EI4GXB IRTS Youth Co-ordinator, James Canning SWL, Son of Brian EI8IU and Aaron O’Reilly SWL, Son of Stan EI7DGB are currently attending YOTA 2015 in Tuscany, Italy. The week of activities will include DX presentations, Youth Contesting, ARDF, ARISS, Antenna Building, Learning CW, Kit Building and lots more. The Irish team will be active on HF during the week using the callsign II5YOTA and look forward to working many EI’s. Ireland have participated at numerous YOTA camps in the past and The Youngsters On the Air website can be found at www.ham-yota.com

The YOTA camp is sponsored by IARU and team Ireland are very grateful to IRTS for sponsoring their flights to the event.

South Eastern Amateur Radio Group

The South Eastern Amateur Radio Group will be QRV as EI2WRC/P from the Inistioge Vintage Rally, Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny on Sunday 2nd August. The Inistioge Vintage Rally is a great fun filled family day out with many vintage cars and engines from times gone past. Loads of things for all the kids too. So if you’re looking for a great day out head on down to Inistioge and call by the SEARG demonstration area where the SEARG crew will be delighted to meet you.

The South Eastern Amateur Radio Group will activate Hook Head Lighthouse (the oldest intact operational lighthouse in the world) on Saturday and Sunday the 15th/16th August as part of the 18th International Lighthouse & Lightship weekend. The July meeting of the South Eastern Amateur Radio Group will take place in the Roanmore Social and Sports Centre, Cleaboy Road, Waterford on tomorrow night Monday 27th July at 8.00 p.m. New members or anyone interested in amateur radio is welcome to contact us through Facebook, Twitter or on our website www.searg.com


Special Callsign EI80OPC

Pat EI4HSB has been given the special event call sign EI80OPC (Echo, India, 80, Oscar, Papa, Charlie)

This call sign is to celebrate 80 years of the first residents moving into O’Neill Park Clones, Co Monaghan. Work started on the development in early 1933 and by 1935,118 houses where built by Clones UDC, the largest estate ever built in the area.

EI80OPC will be on air until the end of August, but most active over the weekend of the 14,15,16 August.

7K4QOK, JQ2GYU, JJ2VLY, JE1CKA currently active from Praslin Island, Seychelles as S79EA.

KE5JA currently active from Bahrain as A93JA.

Henning, OZ1BII will be active again from Cayman Islands in CQ WW DX CW Contest in August 2015 as ZF2EE.

Imam, YB4IR will be active from Karimunjawa Island, Karimun Jawa Archipelago (IOTA OC-186) 25th to 30th July 2015 as YB4IR/2.

BA4TB, BD4TS, BH4TVU, BH4XAE will be active from Hainan Island (IOTA AS-094) 24th July to 1st August 2015 as B7/BA4TB, B7/BD4TS, B7/BH4TVU, B7/BH4XAE.


2m Nets

Fingal Radio Club and Dermot EI2HD continue their 2m call-in on Wednesday and every Wednesday at 7p.m. Please try and give your support by getting on the air. Keep 2metres alive. The frequency is 145.7625MHz, CTCSS 88.5KHz on the Dublin repeater

SEARG will continue their 2m net on Tuesday nights after the IRTS weekly news. This is to promote the use of the band, which has seen a decline in use. The intended frequency used is 145.400MHz and net has had many stations calling in since its introduction. Everyone welcome to join in.
