IRTS 2m Contest 2014
The IRTS 2m contest this year takes place on Sunday August 24th and the closing date for the submission of completed logs is September 7th. Full details are available on www.irts.ie/contests
Limerick Radio Club
Limerick Radio Club members Liam Rainford EI7DSB & Ger McNamara EI4GXB, started their Summits On The Air (SOTA) activations last Sunday by activating Curraun IE027. Signing EI4LRC/P they worked many stations on 40M & 2M. Today, Sunday, Liam & Ger will be QRV from Knockanora IE033 and look forward to working stations that may be chasing SOTA awards. The Shannon Basin Radio Club
The Shannon Basin Radio Club will once again be hosting the SSB Field Day on 6th and 7th September. QTH will be in the grounds of Garbally College, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway. The club would like to invite other clubs or individual operators to come and take part. WX permitting a barbeque will also take place. The Shannon Basin & The Galway Radio Club
The Shannon Basin & the Galway Radio Club, will be taking part in the IOTA Contest 2014, from Inishbofin Island EU-121 on 26 & 27th July with the call sign EJ3Z.
Declan EI9HQ Out and About
Declan EI9HQ will be outand about on the 2nd & 3rd August in the counties of Kilkenny, Tipperary and Cork picking off WAI squares. Hoping for as many squares as he can get. Keep a listen out for him around 7.160 to 7.710 also 2m on 145.350FM. He will be active both days from around 10:00. Starting both days around 1000 local.
Circumstances permitting Declan will be running to Kilkenny on 1st August and back home again on 4th August.

South Eastern Amateur Radio Group
The South Eastern Amateur Radio Group will be QRV as EI2WRC/P from the Inistioge Vintage Rally which takes place in Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny on Sunday 3rd of August (weather permitting). This is always a great event which draws large numbers of people each year. There will be vintage cars, tractors, motorcycles and loads of other vintage related vehicles. SEARG will be there with a station in operation displaying the hobby of amateur radio. See www.searg.com for more details.
The July meeting of the South Eastern Amateur Radio Group will take place in the Roanmore Social and Sports Centre, Cleaboy Road, Waterford on Monday night the 28th of July at 8.30 p.m. This meeting will be preceded by a committee at 8.00 p.m. sharp. New members and anyone interested in learning more about amateur radio are very welcome to attend.
Yuki JH1NBN will operate from Nauru Island from 27 July until 16th August. He will use the callsign C21BN and be active on SSB on all bands 80 – 6m.
A group of Japanese operators will be active as VK9EC from Cocos Keeling Island from 29 July – 2 August. This will be followed by a move to Christmas Island where the callsign VK9EX will be aired from 2 – 8 August. QSLs for both calls will be handled by JF3PLF.
Dave G4BUO who has been active as YJ0UO in Vanuatu recently will travel on to the island of Tonga during the first two weeks of August where he will sign A35OU. In both locations it will be a CW only holiday style operation.
K6TOP will activate VP2V/K6TOP from the British Virgin Islands until 1 August. He will use mainly CW on 20, 15 and 10m.
