Dundalk Amateur Radio Society, EI7DAR
Brendan Mc Coy of Dundalk Fire Service will give a talk and slide show on the Niger Fire Project at the Dundalk Amateur Radio Society premises at 8 pm on Wednesday 16th October. This project aided by fire service personnel and friends send reconditioned pumps and equipment to the Niger fire service. All members and visitors are welcome to attend.
Carrickfergus Amateur Radio Group Rally
The Carrickfergus ARG will hold their radio rally in Downshire Community College Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim BT38 7DA, on Saturday 19th October.Doors open at 11:30. Contact Tim, MI0TBL on email, carg (at) hotmail (dot) co (dot) uk.
Cork Radio Club
Cork Radio Club will meet at the Community Centre in Carrigtwohill on Tuesday October 15th at 20.00. New members are always very welcome.
Foyle & District ARC Rally
The Foyle & District ARC will hold their rally in the White Horse Hotel, 68 Clooney Road, Londonderry, Derry, BT47 3PA. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Trader access from 9:00. Tables at £5.00 each. All the usual traders in attendance, Special Interest Groups, New traders, Bring & Buy, Raffle. Mayo Radio Experimenters Network Annual Rally
The MREN will hold their annual rally on Sunday 17th November 2013 at the Welcome Inn, Castlebar, County Mayo. Doors open at 11am. For more information and contact details please see www.ei7mre.org
South Eastern Amateur Radio Group
The South Eastern Amateur Radio Group in conjunction with Irish artist Sarah Browne and the staff of the Irish Museum of Modern Art will be operating the call EI2EEN from a station set up in the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham from Saturday 12th of October until early 2014. The station will be transmitting parts of a poem entitled “Something Permanent” which has been specially composed by Irish poet Alice Lyons, remembering the Grey exhibition. The transmissions will be made in CW and will take place on Saturdays from 12pm to 4pm approx. Admission is free. CW operators who would like to participate in this project are very welcome to do so. All future SEARG meetings will start at 9pm sharp.
The October meeting of the South Eastern Amateur Radio Group will take place in the Roanmore Social and Sports Centre, Cleaboy Road, Waterford on Monday 28th of October at 9.00 p.m. The meeting will be preceded by a committee meeting at 8.00 pm sharp and as always new members are very welcome. DX News
A Dutch team from the ‘Mercy Ships’ project will be operating as TN2MS from Congo until 24 October. They are active on all bands 160 – 6m in SSB, CW and RTTY. Previous expeditions by the ‘Mercy Ships’ project have been to Liberia (5L2MS), Benin (TY1MS) and Sierra Leone (9L5MS).
Fred VK3DAC will be visiting Lord Howe Island from 13 – 20 October. While there in addition to his hobby of bird watching he will get on the air as VK9DAC. Lord Howe Island counts as a separate entity for the DXCC and has an Island on the Air Award reference number OC-004.
Bill N7OU who has operated from a number of countries in the Pacific Ocean area returns to the South Cook Islands from 14 October – 9 November. He will reactivate his E51NOU callsign on all bands 160 – 10m using CW only. QSLs go via his home call.
A multi-national team will operate as C82DX from Mozambique from 15 – 22 October. Activity is planned on all bands 160 -6m. QSLs can be obtained via the OQRS system and logs will be uploaded to Logbook of The World.
