DX Activity
Active DXers have had plenty to keep them occupied in recent times. A number of major DXpeditions are underway, also several groups preparing for the CQWW CW contest this weekend have been testing their equipment, while teams in the four new DXCC entities created following the breakup of the Netherlands Antilles have also been active.
One of the bigger DXpeditions on the air at present is the ZL8X group activating Kermadec Island, which is North of New Zealand. The group consisting of mainly German operators has been on the air since 19th November and is planning to continue the operation until early December. Many EI call signs are already in their log; topping the list at the time of writing is John EI7BA, with 7 QSOs, mostly CW.
Another operator has appeared from Tristan da Cunha with the call ZD9T. This is DJ2EH who will be there till 8th December. QSL info is via his home call in Germany.
A station to commemorate the 152nd anniversary of the birth of Sir Jagdish Chandra Bose who is known as ‘the Father of Radio Communication’ will be on the air from India until 5th December. The call is AU2JCB which will be of interest to prefix chasers as the normal prefix for India is VU.
The well-known DXer Sigi DL7DF will be QRV from Vietnam as XV4SP until 6th December. He is operating from Phu Quoc Island which counts as AS-128 for the IOTA Award. QSLs are via his home call.
Members of the Russian Robinson Club plan to operate from the Ujelang Atoll in the Marshall Islands probably during the period 7th to 12th December. The callsign will be V73RRC. QSL Manager for this one is N7RO.
