IRTS AGM
Limerick Radio Club will host the Rally, Dinner and AGM in early April. Further details soon.
CQIR Contest.
The Committee at their recent meeting confirmed that as part of the 2012 80th Celebrations of the founding of IRTS, a second CQIR International HF Contest will be held over the St.Patricks Day weekend. This will be somewhat similar to the successful 1st CQIR Contest held as part of the 75th Anniversary celebrations. Hopefully with the rising sun spot numbers, HF conditions will be much better for the event.
IRTS Region 8 Rep
Steve Wright EI5DD has taken over as Region Rep for Region 8 from Ronan Coyne EI8HJ who has re located to the midlands. Our thanks to Ronan for all his good work over the years. Region 8 consists of Galway Mayo Leitrim and Sligo. The Committee is preparing a revised job specification for the Regional Representatives which it is hoped to launch at the AGM in Limerick in April.
WAI Revival
There was further activity on the WAI frequency 3.680MHz last Sunday after the Nuacht as Gaeilge. Declan EI9HQ was activating squares in County Down with the callsign MI/EI9HQ/m. Paddy EI7GK in Wicklow was net controller.
Stations taking part were Bernie EI6AX in Co. Cork, EI9GBB, Eddie EI3FFB in Co. Tipperary, EI0Z/p Operated by Charlie EI8JB, on a summit in Co. Cavan, George GI4SRQ in Co. Armagh, Mike EI2EO in Co. Galway, Ray GI8TAX in Co. Armagh, and Tom EI9CJ and Peter EI4HX both in Co. Louth.
All stations exchanged reports, WAI squares, Counties and book numbers as well as Summit on the Air numbers in the case of EI0Z/p.
IOTA Contest
The provisional results for this year's IOTA contest have now been published. These show the Bristol Contest Group, which operated from the island of Jersey, with the highest score - they had almost 3,300 QSOs and just under 600 multipliers, giving a total score of 13 million.
Twenty-six stations operating from Ireland and its offshore islands submitted logs. The top-scoring EI/GI station was Paul EI5DI, followed closely by EJ3Z - the Shannon Basin Radio Club - which operated from Inisbofin. Other offshore stations came in with excellent scores, including Bernard EJ4II on the Saltees and the Dalkey Island Contest Group EJ1DD who were back for a second year on Clare Island.
Other stations with scores in excess of half-a-million points were Mark EI6JK, Max EI6KC and the Northern Ireland DXers Group MI0M.
The results of the EI and GI stations are shown on the IRTS web site, which also includes a link to the full IOTA provisional results page.
Science Week 2010
Science Week is being held from the 7 to 14th Nov. Clubs are encouraged to take advantage of the publicity generated by Science Week to promote their activities, perhaps by putting on a special event station or partnering with some other local Science Week project.

AREN Training Event
AREN announces its first ever weekend training and social event. Taking place over the weekend of the 13th and 14th of November on the shores of Lough Derg. This central picturesque location has been popular with other Voluntary Emergency Services for training and social activities.
Saturday’s activities will include practical training and a taste of GlobalSET. It will wind down with a tour of the local RNLI station followed by dinner before moving on to the Whisky Still bar for ‘craic agus ceoil’ with local trad’ musicians.
Attendees can arrive on Friday night or Saturday morning ,An afternoon finish on Sunday will ensure you are home early that evening. Our host Declan EI2GE has kindly arranged generous rates for accommodation and meals. Full details will be circulated to members in due course.
AREN also hold a net on the 7th and 21st of the month at 1930 local on 3660 plus or minus. This is a training net for AREN members. However anyone interested in finding out more about AREN activities is more than welcome to call in once the net is established.

iatc.ie is the new website which will be fully operational shortly. At present there are links to the old IATC site and repeater information from the Kells repeater site, which has links to all parts of EI on most modes.
A full detailed account of all that is happening on the TV and repeater front will follow soon.

Limerick Radio Club News
Limerick Radio Club has been issued with EI0A as a club contest & special events call. The history of this call goes back to the early sixties when it was originally issued to the club. QSL via EI4GXB
Brendan McNamara EI9GHB has been elected club rep to the IRTS. The Club would like to wish Brendan the best of luck in his new role.
The club have also been invited back to Bunratty for Halloween on 23/24 October and will again be activating CASHOTA and WAI
