South Dublin Radio Club
SDR's Christmas Party, which took place on 17th of December in the Templeogue Inn, was very well attended, with most current members and a few old friends present. Among the attendance was a group from the Glengormley Electronics Amateur Radio Society based on County Antrim, which is twinned with SDR.
The party activities included the announcement of the winner of the Autumn Challenge, which is an activity competition for club members run during the month of November. This year the Challenge winner was Thos Caffrey EI2JD. Pictures taken at the Christmas Party are now on the club's website at www.qsl.net/ei2sdr/
ARRL 10 metre contest
Among the many EIs taking part in this contest were a group operating from the shack of Thos Caffrey EI2JD in Clogherhead. As well as Thos himself, the operators in Clogherhead were Mark EI6JK, Pat EI2HX, Mark EI9IB and Joe EI7GY.
Marconi Wireless Centennial
100 years ago, Marconi transmitted a simple, 54-word greeting from President Theodore Roosevelt to Great Britain's King Edward VII.
The Marconi Radio Club, W1AA, and the Marconi Cape Cod Memorial Radio Club, KM1CC, working in partnership with the National Park Service at Cape Cod National Seashore, will operate a Special Event station from January the 11th to the 19th from near the site of the original Marconi 1903 Station. Contest & DX News
6F1LM will be QRV until December the 31st from Mexico for the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the FMRE (Federacion Mexicana de Radio Experimentadores).
To celebrate the first year of the Foundation Licence in the UK it is proposed to hold a 'QSO Party' to which all M3s are invited. The event will take place on the 1st of January on 40 metres at 1000 and 1500 UTC.
Tipperary Amateur Radio Group
Members are asked to note the change of venue to the Princess Bar Upper Irishtown, Clonmel for the first meeting of the New Year on Thursday January the 9th 2003.
South Eastern Amateur Radio Group
The night classes will continue at the Park House, Parnell Street, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford at 7.15 p.m. on Monday the 6th of January.
