IRTS Technical Panel

The IRTS Technical Panel is a group of volunteers who have expertise in, or experience of, different aspects of amateur radio. Our aim is to help radio amateurs with technical or operational problems.

Wild Atlantic Way

From 1st January to 31st December 2017 Irish Radio Amateurs will be on air with nine special calls – EI11WAW through to EI99WAW. Each call will be associated with one of the counties making up the Wild Atlantic Way and will have its own distinctive QSL card depicting a highlight of the county linked to the call.

Lough Erne Rally Sunday 14th May 2017

The 36th Lough Erne Radio Rally will take place at the SHARE Centre, near Lisnaskea, County Fermanagh BT92 0EQ on Sunday 14th May. Doors open at 11.30am. For more information and to book tables contact Mark EI4HDB QTHR. www.learc.eu


Wexford Wireless Club

On Wednesday 3rd May Steve EI4KM will give a talk and a small demonstration about Amateur Television (ATV) at the club meeting at 8.30pm sharp. All club members or anyone interested are welcome to attend.

Wexford Wireless Club hold weekly meetings every Wednesday evening from 8pm to 10pm in Gorey Scout Hall just off Esmonde Street in Gorey, County Wexford. Everyone is very welcome

ISS and French School

The International Space Station (ARISS) will make contact with a French school on Thursday 27th April at 9.52am Irish time. Audio will be heard over Ireland on 145.800FM between the Astronaut and the children at the French school. Along with audio there is expected to be live HAMTV video on 2395Mhz which is expected to be received near Cork at the National Space Centre as part of volunteer efforts to assist school contacts with video.


DX News

A team of U.K. operators will sign A25UK from Botswana from 25th April until 6th May. Activity will be on all bands 160m to 10m SSB, CW and RTTY. QSLs go via M0OXO.

Peter DF7DQ will be in Vietnam from 1st to 10th May. While there he will operate holiday style as 3W9DQ on 40m to 15m CW, SSB and RTTY. QSL to his home call.

Three French amateurs will sign TM65EU from IOTA reference EU-065 during 28th to 29th April. QSL manager for this trip is F4ELK.

Prefix hunters may be interested in working HB600NVF which is on the air till the end of this year. The station commemorates the 600th anniversary of Niklaus von Flue, the patron saint of Switzerland. QSLs can be obtained from HB9JOE.

Tom KC0W is continuing his world tour and his most recent stop is Guatemala where he is signing TG7/KC0W until 8th May. This will be followed by a visit to Guyana where he will sign 8R1/KC0W from 10th May to 8th June.
