The 2014 IRTS AGM hosted By The GALWAY VHF GROUP

March 22nd & 23rd 2014

The IRTS AGM and Rally will take place in the GALWAY BAY HOTEL on Sunday 23rd of March 2014 hosted by the Galway VHF Group. The Rally promises to be bigger than ever. Long standing and many news traders will attend.

There will be no charge for tables in the Trading area. Each individual trading at a table will be charged just the admission fee of 5 Euro per person. The IRTS Annual Dinner will take place in the Galway Bay Hotel at 8pm on the Saturday night and tickets for this will be available at 35 Euro from Steve EI5DD.

Tickets for the IRTS Dinner may be obtained from any committee member of the IRTS or from Steve EI5DD (0872451218). A special rate for accommodation is available from the Galway Bay Hotel if you mention the IRTS AGM Weekend when booking on 091 520520.

ZS9MADIBA – Nelson Mandela – Special Call Sign

The SARL will be operating special event stations from around South Africa using the call sign ZS9MADIBA.QSLing is via the bureau or by sending your QSL to SARL, P O Box 1721, Strubensvallei 1735, South Africa. You may also use Logbook of the World. To receive the special QSL card by mail, include $1 for postage. ZS9MADIBA is the South African Radio League Special Event Station commemorating the life and recent passing of Nelson Mandela, elder statesman and first democratically-elected President of the Republic of South Africa. Affectionately referred to as “Madiba”, he became one of the most recognised leaders in the world and was instrumental in the peaceful transition of South Africa from minority rule to a constitutional democracy. South Africans join the people of the world in mourning his passing and celebrating his legacy.


Phoenix Amateur Radio Annual Rally

Phoenix Amateur Radio Club are pleased to announce that the annual Coolmine Radio Rally in Coolmine Community School, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 will take place on Sunday February 16th 2014. Doors open at 11am and admission is €5.00. For table bookings please contact Tony on 087 2439997.


Limerick – Radio Theory Classes

Radio theory classes in preparation for the next Amateur Station License will begin in January 2014. The classes will be held in Limerick City, and anyone from Region 4, which comprises Clare, Kerry, Limerick & Tipperary, are welcome to attend. DX News

Champ E21EIC returns to Laos from 12-17 December where he will reactivate his XW0YJY callsign. He will be active on all bands 80-10m. As before confirmations are OK via Logbook of the World or his home call.

A special call will be used by members of the Russian Robinson Club from the South Shetland Islands from 17-31 December. Look for the callsign RI20ANT which will be mainly on 20m. Operators will be RW3RN and UA3HK and the location will be the Russian Antarctic station at Bellingshausen.

From Bahrain comes a special event callsign A91MCAT which is celebrating Manama, Capital of Arab Tourism until the end of this month. Operators are A92AA and A93LT. QSLs go via IZ8CLM.

Take JG8NQJ will be back on Minami Tori-shima from mid-December until around the end of January as part of his work at the local weather station. While on the island he will be active as JG8NQJ/JD1. This one counts as OC-073 for the Islands on the Air Award as well as being a separate entity for the DXCC Award. QSL via JA8CJY.

The ARRL DXCC Desk has approved the 2013 operation of 9X0XA — Rwanda for DX Century Club credit.


Radio Spectrum Policy Group

The Radio Spectrum Policy Group (RSPG) is a high-level advisory group that assists the European Commission in the development of radio spectrum policy. More details are found on rspg-spectrum.eu/
