IRTS 80m Counties Contest 2013.

The date for the 2013 IRTS Winter 80m Counties Contest is Tuesday 1st January. Check the rules at: www.irts.ie/cgi/showrules.cgi?80m Please take note of Rule 4.4 and 4.5 and keep the portion of the band between 3.650 and 3.700 clear. Also note the change in Rule 10.1 which states that entries must be received by the Contest Manager not more than 14 days after the contest.


Coolmine Radio Rally

Coolmine rally will be held at the Coolmine Community School on Sunday 10th February 2013. Doors open at 8.30am for traders and for member of the public at 11.30am. Admission is €5.00. Usual traders will attend and there will be a bring and buy sale. Tea and refreshments available all day during the event. Unlimited free car parking available. Limerick Radio Club

The Annual Christmas Quiz will take place on Wednesday 12 December in the Limerick Institute of Technology at 7.30pm and a great night of fun. Fun is guaranteed, so brush up on your radio theory, general knowledge etc. Great prizes are available on the night and all are welcome. The club wishes all members a very Happy Christmas and prosperous 2012.


South Dublin Radio Club Christmas Party 2011

This year's South Dublin Radio Club Christmas Party will take place on Tuesday the 11th of December.

The venue will be the same as last year, "The Morgue," Templeogue Village from 8.00 pm until late.

Members of other clubs and visitors are as usual very welcome to this social event. Limited free food will be available for paid-up members & visitors can choose from the bar menu until 9.00 pm.


DX News

Norman 5B4AIF will operate from the South Cook Islands from 10 December until 5 January. He will concentrate on SSB and RTTY with perhaps a little CW. The Islands on the Air reference is OC-083 and the QSL manager is EB7DX.

The multi-national DXpedition by 7P8D from Roma in Lesotho closed down on 3 December. Quite a few EI’s got into the log. More activity from Lesotho will take place from 17 December onwards when Chris ZS6RI comes on the air as 7P8RI. Chris has been active from Zambia for the past 20 months as 9J2RI. His work now brings him to Lesotho where he will be on a 3 week on / 3 week off rotation. Some of the other exotic calls held by Chris have been ZS8IR (Marion Island), 5H9IR (Tanzania) and ZD9IR (Gough Island).

Gil N2GG has been quite QRV as C6AGG from Grand Bahama. He will be there until 13 December. He operates SSB and CW on all bands 80 – 10m. QSLs go via his home call.

Vlad UA4WHX, the well known DX traveller, who was operating as UK/UA4WHX from Uzbekistan last month has been reported as active again as SU9VB from Egypt. Vlad was on from Egypt in 2011 and again earlier this year.
