Germany

Effective from the start of July. The entry level Class licence in Germany now has access to the HF Bands. Users will be able to run 75 watts PEP output on the 160/80/15 and 10 metre bands.

Germany has gone for the approach of giving the entry licence a sensible power level but restricting the bands available to provide an incentive to upgrade.

The 7.1 to 7.2 MHz segment of the 40 metre band has been released to Class A holders on secondary basis with a power output of 250 Watts PEP.

German Amateurs can now use the 50 MHz band, which is very welcome as it increases further the number of countries having access to this band.

The restrictions on the 1260 to 1263 MHz segment would have impacted on the P3-E satellite which has an input at 1260 MHz. It now appears these restrictions have been lifted.
