Fingal Radio Club trip to Telford

This years visit to Telford Radio Rally at RAF Museum Cosford was a huge success with all 12 on the trip agreeing it was a superb show. 11 travelled plus the coach driver, Mark, a son of the clubs usual driver Gerry Pembroke delivered the group there and back safely. Saturday the 30th of August was for travelling and the journey took about 4 hours stopping for a 30 minute break. B & B was the usual Lord Hill Guest House with evening dinner supplied on Saturday and it was a feast "fit for a King". After dinner some of the group went for a walk while others visited the local hostelries.

After an equally large breakfast on the Sunday morning the group travelled to Cosford RAF Museum the home of the rally for the past few years. The journey of about 15 miles took about 25 minutes. On arrival the group were welcomed as old friends by the organisers. Exhibitors were up by 50% and punters by approx 300% with the organisers running out of car parking at about 1 p.m. The car parking space was about 7 acres in total so you can imagine the amount of people attending.

All on trip were sorry to have to leave at 3 p.m. as the crowds were still very evident and realistically 2 days would be needed to look at all on display with the Radio and Computer gear plus the added bonus of numerous aircraft of all vintages.

Many thanks to all who travelled and if you wish to read a blow by blow account of the trip watch out for the next news letter!

Limerick Radio Club

Limerick Radio Club were active for the International Lighthouse weekend on the 16th and 17th of August. They operated from the Tarbert Lighthouse in Co Kerry. A very successful weekend was had by all with some serious pileups on 40 metres. Conditions over the weekend were good with JA and VK worked. More DX could have been worked if it was not for the large number of European stations calling in.

It was a light hearted affair and the final tally was 624 QSOs and 54 Countries worked. All bands from 160 to 6 metres were in use. The Limerick Radio Club would like to thank John Edgeworth EI6IW for organising the weekend.

Limerick Radio Club would like to remind members that they are hosting the AGM of the IRTS on the 7th of March 2004. The location will be the Greenhills Hotel, Limerick. There will be a dinner held on the previous evening, which will give all attending a chance to meet up. There has been a good response from the UK in relation to attending. The rally on the Sunday will be as good as last year if not better. More news will follow soon.
